
Enemies respawn every few minutes regardless of loading screens, including spawning right in front of you without any particular animation. Similarly, teleporting back to your checkpoint respawns enemies, but using your checkpoint doesn't. The checkpoints simultaneously heal your current health but don't recharge your healing charges even though dying recharges them.there are several checkpoints near a high drop and this means the best strategy is to literally kill yourself near the checkpoint.

I'm enjoying this more than Code Vein and possibly more than The Surge, but.it really irks me when developers are clearly inspired by another game (Dark Souls) and then choose to make some mechanics worse for no good reason. There is potential here and if the devs make another 'Souls' game I look forward to it.

Fantastic souls-like, 10/10, just want more.ĭecent combat and customization, some nice enemy/boss designs. I truly believe that the only thing this game is really missing at the moment is a little bit of polish and I'm very excited to see more content in the new dlc. There's also a split-screen option though it would be nice to be able to swap between vertical and horizontal since larger weapons can block the screen.

This includes boss items but unfortunately you can only talk to the npc who turns them into boss weapons in your own game which is the only flaw with that.

Any item/equipment that you or a friend pick up while playing together gets awarded to both of you which is absolutely fantastic. The co-op was incredibly fun, way better than anything fromSoftware has offered. I wish the quests were a little less souls-like to be honest but there are only a few, the rewards are mostly cosmetic and the game overall is very short if you end up missing something. The stats and debuffs aren't explained very well or at all sometimes but a quick google search will fix that. I would have liked to see more variation in the 'magic' and guns but I appreciate that you have a version for every damage type nonetheless. A lot of the levels suffer from being too enclosed and maze-like but there's only one level where it's truly a problem. The game has a few bugs but nothing game-breaking. After i wrap up Surge 2 on my Steam Deck, this is next on it, all in prep for the DLC.įantastic gameplay, interesting aesthetic and design, flipping incredible co-op. The ending was disappointing, but hopefully they expand on it in the DLC. You only have to pause to level up/cash in Souls, which really pushes the risk/reward in Souls games to deeper levels of anxiety. There is some jank, but the combat feels good, especially when you factor in you can earn health by fighting. I explored every inch of that station, doing/finding everything including the proper ending, while ignoring the golden doors. I pirated it, finished it, then bought it to support the devs and played through it again. The soundtrack is outstanding too, especially the Observatory theme. Outside the underside level, the short cuts and hidden pathways with loot to find is insane. Despite being rather empty at times, some of the levels are ominous/awe inspiring. They described it as oppressive brutalist architecture, which feels appropriate. I loved the majority of the environments and level design. I'm so glad Elden Ring gave us a proper jump. Platforming was frustrating at times too, but I welcomed the dedicated jump button. I took my vengeance on them grinding through Arisen Dominion several times to punish them. My biggest gripes are some enemy attacks going through cover, namely the Arisen bros boss fight ranged attacks. Intriguing lore, rich atmosphere/environmental storytelling, deep exploration (stellar level design) and solid combat with an addictive game play loop. It captures all the important aspects of Souls-proper games IMO. I personally loved just about every minute of this, while giving it leeway based on the small team. This is my favourite Souls-Like (yes, even Nioh 1/2).
